ABOUT US
The Los Angeles Alumnae Association of Alpha Delta Pi is a group of over 100 alumnae women from various chapters across the U.S. and Canada that has been active for over 60 years. Our group is represented by initiation dates into Alpha Delta Pi from the 1930's through the present. Our main goals are the following: to support the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (in conjunction with our national philanthropy Ronald McDonald Houses) and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, to support our three local chapters, Alpha Chi at UCLA, Alpha Psi at USC and Gamma Xi at UCSB, to support ADPi nationally and worldwide, and to support our friends and sisters as we follow our motto, "We Live for Each Other."
Our benefit luncheon supporting the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times is held each fall. Each year we divide approximately $12,000 in benefit proceeds between these two wonderful causes. This year the event will be a Silent Tea and raffle.
At least twice a year, we host a dinner for the families staying at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House. Many collegiate representatives from both UCLA and USC join us at these dinners. We have recently added the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House to our philanthropic activities. Holiday parties and other social events are held throughout the year and usually are tied to a Ronald McDonald cause – a paper drive, toy drive, etc.
We assist the collegiate chapters in hosting a pre-recruitment alumnae brunch each year. This event, held directly prior to recruitment, helps collegians to practice recruitment techniques and introduces high school age girls to Greek life.
The Los Angeles Alumnae Association is also represented on two Panhellenic Councils--LA and Glendale/Burbank. In spring of each year the Panhellenic luncheons are held with proceeds supporting Greek scholarship and leadership, with monetary awards to collegiate members.
Throughout the year, the chapters and alumnae meet for various events. Total Membership Education includes participation by both alumnae and collegians for further understanding of topics ranging from alcohol abuse, financial management and hazing to lectures on breast cancer, business etiquette and ADPi song workshops. The alumnae association also hosts the Jewel Degree, a spring event for senior collegiate members as their initiation into alumnae status.
Last, but certainly not least, we actively recruit volunteers to serve on the Chapter Advisory and Corporation Boards. There is a strong connection between the chapters and the alumnae association. Most if not all of UCLA’s and USC's advisory board members belong to the L.A. Alumnae association. We all believe strongly in the value of fraternal life and work to insure that this same opportunity that our members have had over the past 80 years will continue to be available to our local chapters.
Welcome to the Los Angeles Alumnae Association – an active, involved group committed to the values of Alpha Delta Pi.
